so that was coronation....hummm...u know, even though DNFing sucks, it was still an okay day.....the swim was good..i was wishing for 20 minutes, did 22..know i could have gone faster (i think..maybe wishful thinking, but i still think)....and the 1st 2 K of the bike was promising....but, yeah, having a tire blow (loudly) and then fighting to change it, and then having it blow again, well, that's not good. i guess i should have begged someone to through me a spare co2 cart as they flew by, but, i'd wasted probably 30 minutes by the side of the road, and, well, that was one of those days....and being able to hang with friends and my younger sister, was cool....and, hey, there'll be other races....the little big run, the 5 peaks at devon, the half moon lake tri....they'll be fun too...but, now, i've got to wait a whole year to do coronation again.....guess in the meantime, i'll attempt to bike and run the course on my own time, just, well, because.

it was a really cool weekend though...really enjoyed finally being able to run on a saturday morning with the gang, the afternoon out at blackfootz watching that event (hey gang, how many of us are into

doing the 50 or even 80 next spring...the day before coronation?).....it seems like an awesome even...and heck, now i know where i'm taking my kids for their first hike when they get out of school for the summer!....and inspiration or what

anyway, i've got to get over myself, regroup, do a bunch of 2k swims, 90k bike rides, and 21k runs in the 4 weeks before GWN...am still not absouloutley sure i'm still doing that monster, but i guess i can at least attempt it...i know i can do the swim, and the bike is no big deal...as usual, the run will probably turn into a walk

coronation here i taper...or hear me taper

well this doesn't look good.......didn't do a thing on monday, road for a whole 10Km on tuesday, until a flat stopped me outside of villinuve?....every try to order a cab to the middle of nowhere, it can't be done!....and today spend 2 hours putting new tires on my bike!..ouch!...i really hope i don't need to give my finger prints to anyone today, because they are all gone.....mad that was like the toughest tri event ever...putting on tires..and like, i'm supposed to be able to pull these suckers off and put them back on without tire levers (yeah right)....all i know is, if i have a flat on sunday..the whole bike may be making a trip into the north saskatchewan river!
yesterday was good....a good, solid 15K run, some weight training, then 1500 meters at coronation....was a good day..but really, when the highlight of your week is lunch with beena, the priorities are obviously screwed up (okay, having lunch with a fox is always an inspiring thing...but it ain't training)....
anyway, my goals for sunday have changed....i'm thinking 30 minutes in the pool, an hour on the bike (if i don't flat)..and maybe 40 minutes on the run...

this is weird

this is getting kind of weird...scary weird...
my get up and go has seemed to got up and left....but only on some days...some days, i just get up and go, then the next i'm just burnt out with no real energy, or desire to get up and go anywhere...and you know, training hasn't been that bad, i'm pretty much where i was at this point last year...just do not seem as committed...or really worried about it (that's a first)...all i know is the coronation tri is days away, full moon is in a few weeks, and great white north is a month and a half away...oh well, i'll get there
...if i have to chain myself to the bike racks at hubbles i'll do it
had a great start to the week...the 1 hour or so monday night rides are cool...and riding to work over the weekends means i get in 80K in 2 days...running as usual has been good..managed 21k's yesterday through the mill creek ravine which is always cool....saw the burned out house, and a spectacular mtn bike wipe out (i've never heard such screams before)...and then swam at coronation...cut that short when 1 swimmer decided that he needed to swim down the middle of the lane...so 1500 meters, but should have been 2000+...but the great thing is, ice should be off of hubbles so wet suit swims should be happening soon, and the pool at the kinsmen should be opening in about a week too...so that'll be cool
and after much procrastination i managed to get out for a 40K spin this afternoon..so that's cool...was planning on starting out earlier, and going longer...but took a nap this morning, cut the lawn, fertilized, did laundry, and then, well it's 1PM, and only so much time left in the day.......i'll have to see what i can get in tomorrow...am planning on running and doing weights early, and then maybe swim before i head to work....but may bike instead of run..will have to see what the weather and my mood says.
it's so fun to actually get back out onto the bike on a regular basis too...love, simly love the new bike, but love riding period, so any bike will do...but this new cannondale is so nice.....have some geering issues still, but a few turns of a couple of set screws and i'll be fine
i still hope to hit my goals for the coronation tri (25 min swim, 45 min bike, 35 min run)....but what happens happens....and then just want to finish great white north standing...it'll be a fun day

an awesome week

this is more like it...it's amazing how long it's taken me to actually feel like i'm actually up and training..or at least running...maybe it's the sun, maybe it's a change at work, maybe it's mad panic setting in, but 7 days, 1 rest day and

about 10 hours of running, biking and swimming....swimming's still a hassle, and running still takes the bulk of my time...but things all seem to be going together nicely....

am having a few issues with the new bike, and with 3 tri's coming u fast, it's freaking me out a bit (a bit of chain slip thing)...and i did manage to destroy my bike computer yesterday too (a little too close to the spokes)...but am feeling strong on hills, i can do the 2000 meters in the pool without too much of a problem....and yeah, could use a bit more speed on everything...but bring it on......don't really have any goals for the coronation tri....may 25 minutes in the pool (depending on my lap counter) 45 on the bike, and i'd explode if i could manage 35 minutes on the run...but the best thing....my little sister is coming out for a visit, so it'll be cool to have her and a few friends at the finish line....i've never really had that happen ever...so

then it's on to half moon lake, great white north...with at least 1 5 peak run in devon, and a little big run in between......this is turning out to be a great year....can hardly wait for death race!

another good start

i guess this says something, it's been eh bout a week since i wrote in this blog thing...so i musta been busy huh?
..well i have, and have also had to battle the kids for some computer prime time (why can't thee 3 play in the streets where they're supposed?).....but yeah, i's beena good couple of weeks...not training as hard as i'd like to, but has ben pretty consistant though, so that's gotta be key...still need to put a ton of more time in on the bike....but running has been grea, swimming is a piece of cake, so coronation tri here i come!..can harly wait 4 my head to hit the water on may 27th!
and got the best news ever last week...there's a great chance that i could be changing shifts at work, and starting may 20th, i'll be getting fridays, saturdays and sunday mornings off!!...it means i've got to work during the week, but now i'll be able to shuffle my training over 7 days, not just 4 or 5, and always trying to find a few minutes for a long bike or run....so this is so cool.....weekends off..it's about time!
anyway, no pix this week...would have put somethng in here from the st albert 10 miler..but don't have any..but that was a fun time....my time sucked, but it was so much fun to do a run with friends, to run with them, and to be able run back and forth between them, slow down for some, speed up for some, and it's always awesome to see others cross that finish line.....smiles are always a great thing
